Inspired by traditional Victorian dolly tubs, the Vence Oval Trough Planter brings timeless country-garden character to patios, terraces, doorsteps and outdoor spaces.
Crafted from steel with a distinctive elongated oval shape, this generously proportioned garden trough makes a beautiful home for seasonal flowers, herbs and abundant planting displays. Fill it with blowsy summer flowers, tumbling foliage and trailing plants for a wonderfully relaxed look, or keep things simple with herbs, grasses or evergreen planting.
Available in three sizes, the Vence Trough works beautifully as a standalone statement planter or grouped in different sizes to create a more layered display. Its long, low proportions make it particularly effective positioned beneath windows, against garden walls or used to soften entrances and outdoor seating areas.
The steel has been deliberately designed to weather and rust naturally when left outdoors, developing an aged patina over time that adds to its vintage character. Rather than remaining pristine, it's a planter that becomes more interesting as the seasons pass.
The trough does not have drainage holes, so we recommend placing plants inside separate pots or using an inner liner. This not only allows you to manage watering and drainage more easily but will also help prolong the life of the steel planter.
We particularly love these planted generously with seasonal flowers — slightly wild, a little overflowing and looking as though they've always been part of the garden.
