New English Interiors – A Beautiful Book of British Interior Design Inspiration

For Anyone Who'd Rather Have a Home With Personality Than Perfection

Forget perfectly coordinated rooms and interiors that look as though nobody actually lives in them.

New English Interiors by Elizabeth Metcalfe , with beautiful photography by Dean Hearne , celebrates a very different approach to decorating — one filled with colour, pattern, antiques, art and wonderfully personal collections .

Taking us inside the homes of 22 of England's most exciting creatives , this gorgeous interiors book explores the new generation of English decorating and the gloriously individual homes being created within it.

From London townhouses to characterful country cottages, these are rooms that have evolved rather than simply been designed . Wallpapers sit happily alongside patterned fabrics, old furniture mixes with contemporary art, books pile up, collections grow and treasured objects find their place.

And that's precisely what makes them so inspiring.

Among the homes featured are Lucinda Chambers' vibrant West London house and illustrator Fee Greening's Dorset cottage , alongside interiors belonging to celebrated creatives including Cath Kidston, Annie Morris, Idris Khan, Luke Edward Hall and Duncan Campbell .

Some are wonderfully bold and theatrical; others relaxed, earthy and quietly beautiful. But every one demonstrates that the most interesting homes are rarely created overnight — they're collected, layered and allowed to tell the story of the people who live there.

Beautifully photographed and packed with ideas worth stealing, New English Interiors is both a glorious coffee table book and a compelling source of inspiration for anyone who believes a home should have character.
