Amaryllis stems are naturally hollow, so always trim with a sharp knife rather than scissors to avoid crushing the stem.
For support, slide a long wooden stick inside the hollow stem (we can provide these), then gently secure the top with a little cotton wool. This helps the stem remain upright as each magnificent bloom opens.
Not ready to display them straight away? Store the stems flat, without water, in a cool, dark place for up to a week. When the moment feels right, place them in fresh water and move them into a warm, bright room — the light and warmth will encourage the flowers to open beautifully.
