Ayres on Animals | Pam Ayres Poetry Collection
- Description
For Anyone Who's Ever Loved an Animal — Or Been Thoroughly Outsmarted by One
Dogs, birds, farm animals, wildlife and all the other creatures that somehow manage to charm, amuse and occasionally run rings around us.
Ayres on Animals by Pam Ayres is a wonderfully warm and funny celebration of them all.
Bringing together much-loved favourites alongside brand-new poems, personal introductions and charming illustrations, this beautiful hardback collection captures everything we adore about the animals that wander, fly, trot and wag their way into our lives.
With her unmistakable wit and wonderfully observant eye, Pam turns her attention to mischievous dogs, cheeky garden birds, countryside characters and much-loved pets — finding humour, tenderness and more than a little truth in our relationships with them.
The collection includes favourites such as I'm a Starling Me Darling, Ode to a Jack Russell, Fleeced and the touching Tippy Tappy Feet, alongside newer writing and reflections from Pam herself.
Some will make you laugh out loud. Others might catch you unexpectedly and bring a little lump to the throat. And anyone who has ever shared their home with an animal will recognise rather more than they'd probably like to admit.
Beautifully presented in hardback and perfect for dipping into, Ayres on Animals is a glorious gift for animal lovers, countryside types, poetry readers and anyone with a soft spot for Pam Ayres' uniquely British sense of humour.
