Spring Workshops at Mad Lilies - For a Beautiful and Creative Experience
13 January 2020
After all the excitement (and stress) of Christmas, it can be easy to feel a touch of the January blues...but fear not – at Mad Lilies, we’ve got just the thing to brighten your day. Our spring workshops, in Banstead, Surrey, are a fun way to shake away any cobwebs from winter and bring a bit of calm and creative happiness to your life. Whether you’ve promised yourself a New Year’s resolution to learn a new skill, want a fun activity to enjoy with friends, or simply need a couple hours of ‘me time’ – we’ve got you covered. The spring programme ranges from our Spring Handtied Bouquet Workshop to Modern Calligraphy For Beginners.
Why a Workshop?
Doing something creative is said to be good for mindfulness (and we could all do with a bit of that!). Throw fresh flowers and foliage into the mix and the sense of grounded connection can really make for a meaningful and calming experience.
Not only do you get to learn from our award-winning and talented team of floral designers, you also get to have fun in a welcoming and creative haven – with most workshops taking place in our Mad Lilies store on Banstead High Street in Surrey. Our spring workshops are fun to do with your friends or, particularly in the case of our Mother’s Day Workshop For Two, your Mum. If you're looking for an inspiring escape and focused 'me time' then we have many who come to our workshops alone, to get lost in their creativity for a couple of hours.
Workshops also make great gifts for loved ones (our gift vouchers allow them choose which workshop they would prefer). You might have seen messages in the media at Christmas encouraging us all to be more conscious with our gifting and reduce the number of unwanted presents. Well, we couldn’t agree more, and we believe the concept isn’t just for Christmas but for life (a sentiment our shop dog, Duffy, would no doubt approve of). Giving someone the gift of an experience is so meaningful – especially if it’s one you’ll enjoy together.
The Spring Workshops Programme
The spring workshops calendar is based around working with beautiful spring flowers and colours, like sunny yellow, fresh green, and uplifting pastel palettes. A welcome burst of sunshine after the long winter months.
First up is our Spring Handtied Bouquet Workshop, on 4th March (7-9pm), at the Mad Lilies store in Banstead, Surrey. Using seasonal spring stems, and the spiralling technique, we’ll show you how to create a pretty handtied spring bouquet. We’ll use gorgeous blooms such as spray roses, narcissus, lilac and tulips – creating a wonderful pop of spring to take home.
Next is our Mother’s Day Workshop For Two, on 24th March (7-9pm), also at our Mad Lilies, Banstead store. Forget simply buying your mum a ready-made bunch of flowers, treat her to some quality time together – learning how to create a fabulous handtied bouquet with the spiralling technique. Using seasonal flowers including ranunculus, paperwhites, and tulips – in pretty spring colours, we’ll teach you both how to design and create a bouquet to enjoy at home.
Alternatively, if you’d like to learn the art of arranging flowers in a vase, then our Spring Vase Design Workshop on 22nd April (7-9pm), at our Banstead store, could be just what you’re looking for. Using the grid technique, we’ll teach you how to create a stunning vase arrangement to dress your house this spring (though, the tips and tricks you’ll learn can be used year-round). You’ll also get to go home with a gorgeous, seasonal design.
Something a Bit Different
It’s not just bouquets and vases in our workshop calendar (as beautiful as they are), we also have a selection of other creative workshops throughout the year to inspire and put a smile on your face. Something a bit different, if you please.
On 25th March (7-9pm), at Mad Lilies in Banstead, Surrey, we have a Modern Calligraphy For Beginners Workshop with the amazing Ellie from ERA Calligraphy and Stationery Studio. Whether you want to learn a new hobby or discover a creative way to add flair to future projects, cards, and letters – Ellie’s beginners’ class will teach you the basics of Modern Calligraphy.

Want to learn expert tips and tricks for styling a creative, colourful, and spring-like dinner table? Join us for our Spring Tablescape Workshop on 1st April (7-8.30pm), at the luxuriously eclectic Louisa Grace Interiors in Banstead, Surrey. We’ll show you a distinctive way to style your table, featuring seasonal flowers and foliage, and carefully curated linen, cutlery, glasses and place settings – all in the fresh and beautiful shades of spring.
Looking for something unique to create for Easter? Then our Easter Wreath Workshop on 7th April (7-9pm), at our Mad Lilies store, could be right up your street. Your front door doesn’t have to wait until next Christmas to impress the neighbours again. We’ll show you how to create a gorgeous, seasonal, Easter wreath – from scratch.
