Spring Flower Workshops
10 April 2018
We had such fun at our Spring Workshops in March we thought we would share some of the photos and comments with you. We love running these workshops, they are a fabulous way for us to connect with other “flower minded” people and share some insight into how we achieve the Mad Lilies “look”.
Spring Vase Design
First, we had the Spring Vase Design at our workshop in Banstead with a super group of ladies, including one of our “Bride’s to Be” and her Mum, who was given the workshop as a birthday gift! What a wonderful idea, new skills, and a shared experience.
Using key floristry skills, we created a beautiful vase full of some of our favourite spring blooms. Learning how to prepare, arrange and care for the flowers it was a busy evening and the results were fabulous!
Hand-tied Bouquet Workshop
The second workshop was held at the gorgeous Sarah & Bendrix workroom in Cheam where our head florist Rebecca demonstrated the step-by-step skills required to build a gorgeous hand-tied bouquet.
The ladies were amazing, all clearly passionate about flowers, they created some stunning bouquets that included a variety of; flowers; viburnum, yellow tea rose, white lilac, champagne lisianthus, white ranunculus, mistral anemones and hellebores etc. We’re sure they were the centre of attention once they got them home!
If you like the thought of learning some new skills in a relaxed and fun atmosphere we do have another workshop coming in May, hand-tied peonies! One of the UK’s (and our) favourite flowers! Take a look here for details and how to sign up. It is likely to be our last workshop until the end of the year, so don’t miss out!
Below are some quotes from our lovely budding florists!
Mad Lilies spring vase workshop was a brilliant present for my mum's upcoming birthday. Being stuck for ideas, this was a great alternative to a traditional present - where we both got to walk away with beautiful bouquets, vases, newly found floristry skills and enjoy some quality time together! Ali was fab at running the session and we'll be keeping a lookout for future workshops. 10/10!
- Ella, Bride to Be
My daughter arranged a lovely birthday surprise for me. We had a fun and fascinating evening with Ali making the most gorgeous natural flower arrangement. She shared the tricks of the trade, and we all achieved beautiful arrangements. We were even given a gorgeous vase to take home. What made it such a lovely evening was the fact that it was a small group, plus Alison, so we had a huge amount of attention and fun chatter. It was fascinating talking to Alison. Such a great evening. We will definitely book more courses. Thank you very much to her and my lovely daughter.

One of the nicest things about working with Mad Lilies is that they’re seen locally as complete experts in their field, so running a workshop with them means everyone knows they’ll get expert tuition and leave knowing they’ve created something design-led, following mad lilies quite-wild style, but also finding their own take.
During the workshop, while talking about floristry techniques, Becks also tells you all about the flowers and foliage as well, so it’s great for inspiring tips for the garden. There’s also something deeply relaxing about spending a couple of hours working with flowers, the scents are amazing and it’s great to focus on doing something creative, with your hands, especially if that’s not your daily routine! Another cool thing about the workshops is bringing people together, to see strangers smiling and laughing with each other makes me really happy! Quite often, the evening will end with a quick drink in a local pub, so it’s a really nice way to make new friends and have another friendly face in our local community.
