Frequently asked questions
Day to day we get asked a number of similar questions about choosing flowers and the servive we offer, so we thought it might be helpful to put a list of common questions we get asked and their answers, as we know many of our customers like to be prepared before placing their order. So hope this helps...
How are you ensuring deliveries are socially distanced & safe?
Our delivery driver will ensure all deliveries arrive at their intended address using contactless delivery. The driver will ring the bell/knock and then place the item on the floor outside the door. They will then move 2m away from the door. Should the recipient not be in we will see if there is a safe place to leave the flowers and then post a card through the door advising where the delivery has been left or ,alternatively, we will leave it with a neighbour and again post a card through thedoor advising which neighbour has the flowers.
We are also providing a contactless click/call and collect service – which you can read more about below.
Can I visit Mad Lilies shop in Banstead High Street?
Unfortunately the shop is currently closed and the team are having to work from behind closed doors under the current Covid guidelines. However we are allowed to offer a Click & Collect service and are still operating our usual flowers delivery service across many Surrey postcodes.
How does Click & Collect work?
When you reach check out, select your date and choose 'store collection' from the drop down menu. When collecting, give the shop a call a few minutes before or as you arrive and we'll have your order ready for collection from our table outside the shop, completely contactless.
Can I order a bespoke flower design?
Of course but we also need to advise you that due to current international and government restrictions on flower markets here, and around the world, there are some limitations on what flowers are available for us to order and get delivered. Please call the shop to chat through what flowers you are looking for and we will do our very best to source them for you. If they aren’t available we will be able to advise on what flowers may work just as well.
All products are subject to availability. In the event of any supply difficulties, we reserve the right to substitute a product of equivalent value and quality without notice.
Will Mad Lilies Workshops be running in 2021 and how will you keep me safe when attending?
Yes we are very optimistic that our workshops will be kicking off again at the end of January and will be releasing our workshop calendar first week of January. We have made some Covid-safe tweaks to protect everyone’s health and give you the best experience possible.
- We will be taking everyone's temperature on attendance at the workshop
- Before each workshop, all equipment is thoroughly sanitised
- Each person taking part in the workshop will be given all the flowers, foliage and decorations they need to create their design – this helps us avoid unnecessary mingling
- We have copious amounts of hand sanitiser available and encourage you to wash and sanitise your hands regularly.
I don’t know what I want! Can you help me?
Please don’t feel under any pressure to know flower names or styles, that's what we're here for, to guide you through and help you work out what it is that you want or your intended recipient may like. If buying for other people, think about what colours they like or tell us about their personality. Are they a romantic? More traditional? Outdoorsy? Think about their home and décor, which room are they likely to place the flowers. What’s the occasion? We can use all this information to create something to suit. If you’re really stuck, don’t worry, that’s what we’re here for and promise to come up with a perfect solution.
How much should I spend?
It’s best to have a budget in mind, the best way to work this out is to think about where you or your recipient may display the flowers. A tied bunch (approx. £35-£45) would be suitable for a side table, medium (approx. £45-£65) for a kitchen table and large (approx. £65-£100+) for a kitchen island or entrance. And our 'Showstopper Vase Designs' - well just let's say they'll definitely make an entrance and and impression.
What shall I write in the message?
This is obviously very personal but can fox many of our customers when put on the spot. Here are a few suggestions to get you started!
- Thanks a bunch!
- Thanks for all you do, you are a true friend
- Couldn’t have done it without you, thank-you
- You make my heart smile
- Accept these flowers in place of the words I said
- I'm wrong - you're right
- I'll never forgive myself...but I'm hoping you will. I'm sorry
- Sending sunny thoughts to brighten your day
- Hope this brightens your day!
- I hope these ruin a perfectly bad day
- Sending you some get well cheer!
- Hoping your wishes come true year after year
- Love on your birthday and every day

Can I get Same Day delivery of flowers in Surrey?
Yes Mad Lilies delivers flowers across Surrey daily - so long as we have you order by 1pm we can deliver that same day Monday to Saturday.
Is it cheaper to buy flowers that are in season?
It can be, we can advise which flowers are in season and present the best value. Our Florist Choice Hand-Tied Bouquet uses flowers chosen by us, ensuring the freshest, most seasonal flowers available at the most reasonable price.
If I have a specific idea in mind, can you help?
Yes of course, we love to get creative and think there’s nothing better than delivering a bespoke arrangement. Although we do have to make sure the flowers you ask for are in season, they are available under current international and government Covid restrictions on flower markets, and you have given us enough notice to organise delivery.
What flowers and foliage are in season at the minute?
Were in late winter early spring right now so seasonal flowers coming into their seasonal include anemones, amarylis, blossom, pussy willow, tulips, paperwhites, narcissus, nerines, hellebores, guelder rose, lilac, muscari, hyacinths, waxflower. And foliage that is in seaonal now includes eucalyptus, magnolia, myrtle, rosemary, berried ivy, grevillea and jasmine.
Can I have my arrangement delivered with a vase?
Yes, we stock a large range of beautiful vases that really complement our bouquets so are more than happy to include these in your order.
How long do fresh cut flowers last?
In general, you should get up to 7 days from your fresh cut flowers but this is dependent on the conditions they are kept and under floor heating and radiators will reduce the freshness of your flowers. Fresh water every other day and retrimming their stems is the best thing you can do to increase your flower's life.
How about extra gifts?
Yes, we work with Epsom luxury cake maker Gaya's Cakes who bakes freshly baked chocolate brownies for us and we also stock Cocoba chocolate truffles either of which can be added to your flower order, or you may prefer to add one of our Mad Lilies, hand-produced botanical candles. And, if you need a special card for the occassion, we have a fabulous range of luxury gift cards. So there's lots of ways we can help make your gift extra special.
What information do I need before I order?
For any order we will need the recipient’s full name and address including postcode, a contact telephone number, preferred delivery times, an idea of budget and any message you wish to include.
Orders can be placed online or by ringing up the shop on 01737 356404 to discuss your questions, we love an excuse to talk flowers!
