How to Care for Your Amaryllis Stems
Amaryllis stems are naturally hollow, so always use a sharp knife rather than scissors when trimming the ends — this keeps the stem intact and prevents it from crushing.
Use a long wooden stick support (we can supply these for you) to slide up inside the hollow stem. Once in place, plug the top with a little cotton wool to hold it firm. This gives your tall Amaryllis the support it needs as each magnificent bloom opens, helping prevent the stem from bending or snapping.
If you’re not ready to display your Amaryllis right away, you can store the stems flat in a cool, dark place for up to a week without water. When you’re ready for them to shine, place them in fresh water and move them into a warm, bright room — the light and warmth will gently encourage those beautiful blooms to open.
