The Return Of The Lily

10 July 2017

The cut flower industry is often driven by fashion, trends come and go, with the new Roselily hitting the market (developed with a bounty of petals like a rose), we are seeing an increase in demand for these wonderful flowers, with event florists beginning to use these gorgeously scented flowers again, for their longevity, generously sized heads and variety of shapes and colours.

Lily flowers come in a range of varieties and colours including whites, yellows, oranges, pinks, reds and purples, some with beautiful markings which can include spots and brush strokes. The true season of the British grown Lily is late spring or summer-flowering, however most varieties are available all year round from the Dutch auctions, we do though love to use lilies grown by the amazing Smith&Munson. Lilies are well known for being a long lasting flower, however they can often take up to 10 days to open!

We are excited to be using lilies throughout our designs this summer and wanted to shout about it, afterall we are Mad Lilies!
