In fairness to Beyoncé, she wasn't yet a mother when she recorded Who Run The World (Girls), but I reckon if you asked her now 'Who Run The World?' Mums may well get the nod. And with an alter ego like Sasha Fierce, I bet Jay Z doesn't need reminding when Mother's Day falls each year.

It's a special day, when even pop-megastar Mums get to kick back and be the centre of attention for a totally different reason. One day to be rightfully rewarded for all the things they are and do as mothers, just like the rest of us.

Here at Mad Lilies we absolutely LOVE Mother's Day. Spring is all around us and seemingly every day brings yet more buds bursting with vibrant colours and fresh full flower heads. And we get to celebrate the person to whom we owe so much. In shop owner and lead florist Ali's case, it's both her mother and grandmother florists who despite being no longer with us, were a key inspiration behind her move into the flower business.

Conveniently, with Mother's Day falling as it does in early spring, we have a wealth of options when it comes to flowers and plant gifts to say "Thanks Mum". And let's face it, when it comes to buying Mother's Day flowers it's pretty difficult to go wrong. And let's be honest, it's not the most inspiring list from a gift-choosing point of view, unless you think a new mop and a fresh pair of marigolds might float her boat (We're sceptical).

It occurred to us that instead, we should be celebrating all the things our Mums are now. The things that fundamentally make them who they are. So we put our heads together and came up with some gift collections for 'The Mum Who...'

We're talking about The Baker Mums, who love nothing more than to whip up a quick cake and serve us a dollop of something sweet! The Creative Mums with a knack for styling, who instinctively know how to turn a house into a home. Or those Mums who just KNOW how to turn every gathering into a memorable event. The Entertainers.
